The Four Month Shots

Yesterday, Evan had his four month well-baby check-up. Any parent out there knows what that means. Another round of shots. Sigh. Really, Evan handles it so much better than I do.

He was the happiest little boy going into the appointment. Smiley, kicky, giggly... the whole deal. He weighed in at an impressive 16 lbs. 13 ozs. and he's grown to 25 3/4 inches. He's in the 75 percentile on all of his measurements. We like to say he's an overachiever. And he is.

So, he's laying on the examining table, kicking happily. Mommy & Daddy were just going over introducing foods to him, which we will start with oatmeal this week, by the way... and then Dr. Mahaffey leaves... and a team of three nurses come in with needles blazing. It was really quite fast. Three sticks, really quickly, and it was over. Evan screamed very loudly for about a minute. Mommy scooped him up when it was over and he calmed down right away.

The Tylenol we gave him helped him tremendously and he napped peacefully in the afternoon. We went to Grandma's for dinner, and he was happy as a clam. (How, exactly, do we know clams are happy anyway?... oh well.)

I was WAY more of a basket case leading up to, during, and following the shots than Evan was. He bounces back quickly. I took a half day to help him deal with it, and I was the one who needed the rehab. So, last night and this morning already, he was smiley and happy.

He's such a good boy. He loves being able to sit up (that's SIT up not SPIT up, although he can do that, too). He's started babbling a lot lately, too. This is a great time in his life. There are so many 'firsts' we get to celebrate. It's quite a fun adventure.

Here are some more photos! He's so cute!
